Wish you were still here

What a roller-coaster ride of emotions! The ticket I paid for the Roger Waters 'experience' (it was much more than a concert), was the best money I have ever invested in music. Then, a few hours later, the death of Pink Floyd co-founder Syd Barrett was announced, apparently it happened before the concert.
Roger did not say anything during the concert. However there was a special feeling in the crowd when he performed 'Wish you were here', the very song people say was dedicated to Syd Barrett after he left the group because of his meddling with drugs. Those present sang heartily to the tune, accompanying Roger in a sort of mourning ritual without knowing Syd's fate.
Syd Barrett like George Best. We all wish they were still here. We wonder what the world could have been with Syd's Pink Floyd in the 70's and 80's and Best's genius on the pitch in a longer career.
But that's life, a saucerful of secrets. There is no dark side, because it is all dark, obscured by clouds. We all sit comfortably numb, hiding behind the wall, like sheep, with time running like hell. Goodbye cruel world. We won’t see Emily play anymore.
